Phishing attacks use spam techniques to distribute large volumes of forged or 'spoofed' emails designed to trick recipients into divulging personal financial data such as credit card numbers, account usernames and passwords, and social security numbers. These fraudulent phishing emails can look very official, often using email addresses, Web links, and branding that appear to be authentic. By hijacking the trusted brands of well-known banks, online retailers, ISPs, and credit card companies, phishers are able to convince up to 5% of recipients to respond to them.

Phishing emails, like spam, can be identified and filtered out of inbound email to stop employees from ever receiving them. Tumbleweed’s Email Security products provide an anti-spam and anti-fraud engine that automatically captures phishing email before it enters your network.

With Tumbleweed's Email Security products, organizations can:

  • Protect employees from exposure to fraudulent email by stopping inbound phishing attacks.
  • Receive automatic heuristic updates via Tumbleweed’s Dynamic Anti-spam Service to combat new phishing scams and techniques.
  • Employ a Digital Signature defense by digitally signing outbound email at the Internet gateway, assuring recipients that the email they receive from your organization is authentic.
  • Tumbleweed is the founding member of the Anti-Phishing Working Group (APWG), an industry association focused on eliminating the identity theft and fraud that result from the growing problem of phishing and email spoofing.
