Tumbleweed Press ReleasesTumbleweed's MailGate and Secure Messenger Earn Perfect Five-Star Ratings in SC Magazine Group Test ReviewsMailGate receives coveted “Recommended” rating by SC Magazine’s staff Redwood City, Calif. – June 11, 2008 – Tumbleweed® Communications Corp. (NASDAQ:TMWD), an industry leader in managed file transfer and email security, today announced that its Secure Messenger™ product received a 5-star rating in SC Magazine’s Email Security Group test, and its MailGate® product received a “Recommended” rating in addition to its 5-star rating in SC Magazine’s Email Content Management Group Test. SC Magazine competitively tested various products in both the Email Security and Email Content Management Group Test for the June 2008 issue evaluating the products in six categories: features, ease of use, performance, documentation, support, and value for its money. Both MailGate and Secure Messenger products earned five out of five stars in each of the categories. SC Magazine reviewers tested Tumbleweed’s MailGate product, a comprehensive, high-performance email security solution in the Email Content Management Group Test, and found the appliance offers “solid email protection and management in one device,” as well as “a solid content filter protecting from accidental data leakage.” MailGate is also honored with the June “Recommended” rating by the SC Magazine review staff for being “quick out of the gate,” and as a product that is “well worth your attention.” In addition, Tumbleweed’s Secure Messenger, a policy-based, secure message delivery product, also achieved a 5-star rating in the Email Security Group Test. Secure Messenger’s “powerful content and identity filtering capabilities and a multitude of standards-based encryption options will help support most organizations’ administrative and policy needs,” according to the article. SC Magazine specifically recognizes Tumbleweed’s support portal site as “top notch,” and also “represents a fantastic value given the feature set.” “The SC Magazine product reviews are consistent with what our customers have already been saying about our email security products – time and again, they tell us that MailGate and Secure Messenger are exceptional products,” said Jim Scullion, chief executive officer at Tumbleweed. “Our products help organizations conquer and move beyond traditional inbound protection, providing comprehensive content management capabilities that protect business-critical communications and prevent data loss. We are setting a new bar for email security.” Tumbleweed’s email security products have been consistently recognized for excellence and performance. In November, Tumbleweed was positioned in the Leaders Quadrant of the Gartner “Magic Quadrant for Email Encryption, 2007.”1 According to the analyst firm, “leaders” are vendors who are performing well today, have a clear vision of the market direction, and are actively building competencies to sustain their leadership position in the market. The report stated, “One growth trend in the e-mail encryption market has been through data loss prevention (DLP) projects. Companies that invested in DLP initially monitored traffic for policy violations or to understand how their businesses used sensitive data. However, as soon as companies turn to an enforcement mode, e-mail encryption becomes an important mechanism for allowing the transmit of sensitive data.” SC Magazine’s Email Content Management Group Test with Tumbleweed’s MailGate appears here: SC Magazine’s Email Security Group Test with Tumbleweed’s Secure Messenger appears here: 1) Gartner, Inc.
