Tumbleweed Names Dave Harris Vice President of Worldwide Channels

VARBusiness Top "Executive to Watch" and CRN "Channel Chief" joins Tumbleweed to continue rapid channel program growth

Redwood City, Calif. – Oct. 21, 2007 – Tumbleweed® Communications Corp. (NASDAQ:TMWD), an industry leader in managed file transfer and content security, today announced that Dave Harris has joined the company as vice president of worldwide channels. In his role at Tumbleweed, Harris will drive the ongoing expansion of the Tumbleweed Alliance Program (TAP) around the globe. Mr. Harris will report to Nick Hulse, executive vice president of worldwide field operations at Tumbleweed.

"Dave’s extensive sales, channel and management experience coupled with his depth of expertise in data security will be a great asset to our company and partners," said Nick Hulse. "His recent recognition as a VARBusiness Top ‘Executive to Watch’ and a CRN ‘Channel Chief’ speak to his leadership and experience. I am looking to him to infuse the same level of energy and leadership into our rapidly growing channel program."

Mr. Harris brings 25 years of IT sales leadership experience to Tumbleweed. Previously, Harris was worldwide vice president of channels at SurfControl, where he oversaw the revitalization of their channel program. Prior to SurfControl, Harris was North American vice president of sales at ActivCard, where he more than doubled the amount of revenue generated by the channel. As vice president of worldwide sales and business development at Avantgo, acquired by Sybase, he increased average deal size by 300 percent. He also rose to the level of vice president at Adobe Systems, and held senior roles at Texas Instruments and Interlink LLC.

"I am joining Tumbleweed at an opportune time – its differentiated products and channel programs will help drive significant global expansion," said Mr. Harris. "I intend to bring my channel experience to bear, supporting our TAP partners as they drive new levels of product sales and adoption around the globe."

Harris joins Tumbleweed at a time of rapid partner expansion. Tumbleweed recently welcomed 12 new partners in the Asia-Pacific region, appointed a new EMEA managing director, and recruited a number of partners to join TAP in North America. TAP enables qualified security resellers, solution providers, service providers and system integrators to sell Tumbleweed’s differentiated managed file transfer, email security, and identity validation products while providing favorable margins and strong marketing and sales support to ensure success.

Harris received his Bachelor of Science degree in industrial engineering from Oregon State and his MBA from Northeastern University.
