Travelers Property Casualty Standardizes on Integrated Tumbleweed Solution
REDWOOD CITY, CA - April 5, 2000 - Tumbleweed® Communications Corp. (Nasdaq:TMWD), a leading provider of secure Internet communications services, today announced that Travelers Property Casualty, a leading provider of insurance products for commercial and consumer markets, has chosen to implement an integrated security and management communications platform based on Tumbleweed Integrated Messaging Exchange (IME) and Tumbleweed Messaging Management System (MMS). Tumbleweed IME leverages the Internet and existing email to enable secure, trackable online communication; Tumbleweed MMS provides email management services that allow businesses to protect valuable corporate information and leverage existing groupware investments by centrally creating policies to manage and control Internet communication. Using Tumbleweed MMS, companies can centrally set and enforce policies for security, archiving, distribution, monitoring and regulatory compliance related to Internet email that are administered centrally and universally across an enterprise.

Using Tumbleweed MMS, companies can centrally set and enforce policies for security, archiving, distribution, monitoring and regulatory compliance related to Internet email that are administered centrally and universally across an enterprise.
Tumbleweed MMS can also enable centralized control over communications security policies by automatically re-routing email traffic that should be sent securely to Tumbleweed IME. The integrated MMS/IME solution automatically redirects sensitive traffic to Tumbleweed IME - no end user action is required to send a groupware-generated message securely over the Internet. This solution provides the security to send sensitive business information over the Internet - whether the messages are created by an individual or an automated system.
"The strategic significance of Internet communications is well understood in the insurance and financial services industries. The business-critical information that moves through email networks every day requires secure delivery, management and oversight," said Jeffrey C. Smith, president and CEO, Tumbleweed Communications Corp. "In deploying IME and MMS, our customers have the means to create a secure messaging channel and to apply appropriate security and policy management to every major aspect of Internet communications."
Tumbleweed MMS works in conjunction with Travelers groupware servers; it is completely transparent to end-users. Using Tumbleweed MMS, Travelers can set policies to automatically evaluate emails its employees generate to determine the most appropriate channel for secure distribution, and redirect sensitive traffic for secure, trackable delivery over Tumbleweed IME.
In addition, Travelers will use Tumbleweed IME as its platform to extend enterprise applications with a secure Internet communication channel for automatically delivering confidential business information to its customers and partners. Travelers' customers do not need to install any new software to receive or send confidential documents via Tumbleweed IME.
