The Vice President of Marketing (VP) will report to the CEO and be a member of the executive committee. This position encompasses motivating and leading the marketing team. In this position, the VP will be required to work closely with other teams, including sales, product management, engineering and training to provide innovative solutions and translate customer requirements and market trends into product specifications. The VP will be expected to work in a cross-functional environment (sales, product management, engineering, training, etc.) to drive the growth of Tumbleweed’s global channel programs. The VP will have the passion and necessary skill set to continue Tumbleweed’s transition from a direct sales organization to a 100% indirect sales organization that builds and relies on strategically chosen channel partners.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Direct the development of marketing programs and initiatives, including corporate messaging, branding, website, collateral development, lead generation, and, analyst and public relations.
- Develop and drive a compelling marketing campaign to recruit national and regional resellers as well as large system integrators; develop and drive channel specific marketing initiatives.
- Build and support effective lead generation programs to drive significant revenue growth.
- Assess existing and potential markets, life cycle planning, product strategy, technical product development coordination, promotional activities and product launches.
- Activities may include sales support; product advertising/promotion; planning, developing, and implementing multiple channel programs; and directing the development of company market requirements for specific product(s) or product line(s).
- Deliver, product pricing and positioning, as well as market and competitive analysis.
- Build knowledge and awareness with channel partners and internal customers (sales) regarding Tumbleweed’s product positioning, roadmaps, revenue objectives, etc.
- Create and manage an explosive marketing campaign for the company, concentrating on messaging, positioning, and branding of its product suite offerings
- Manage, in collaboration with sales, channel specific marketing initiatives
- Represent and promote the company at targeted industry events and associations.
Position requirements:
- Should have 10 plus years of experience in developing and motivating marketing teams with a passionate, energetic and enthusiastic leadership style; sales experience preferred.
- Possess tactical and strategic marketing skills to drive achievement of company’s objectives.
- Proven track record of promoting company and product image.
- Marketing experience in the technology industry; preferably messaging and content security and or mange file transfer.
- Strong ability to identify market trends and translate those into marketing and product initiatives.
- Strong analytical, problem solving, strategic thinking skills with the ability to influence others.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- BA/BS required; MBA preferred.
